BAN Toxics is a non-government, non-profit, environmental organization established in 2006, that strongly supports the protection of the environment and advocates for an environmentally sustainable future through the promotion of sound chemicals and wastes management practices. We are committed to the advancement of environmental justice to protect vulnerable populations, especially women and children.

The organization’s activities focus on addressing the adverse effects of toxic chemicals and wastes, with a special focus on children’s rights in environmental law, through education campaigns, community grassroots interventions, training and capacity-building, policy research and development, and advocacy programs.

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 10661, otherwise known as “An Act Declaring the Month of November of Every Year as the National Children’s Month,” BAN Toxics joins the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) in celebrating the 2021 National Children’s Month for the entire month of November, with the theme “New Normal Na Walang Iwanan: Karapatan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan!

In line with this, BAN Toxics will be holding an online launching of “Mainstreaming Children’s Rights in Environmental Law” and a webinar on Child’s Rights in Environmental Law on November 25 to 26, 2021.

Online Launching of “Mainstreaming Children’s Rights in Environmental Law”

The document “Mainstreaming Children’s Rights in Environmental Law” outlines specific tools and  guidelines in developing policies and programs that are responsive to children’s needs in the context of  environmental law. 

This document provides a short overview of chemicals issues that children are facing, as well the tools provided by the document “Mainstreaming Children’s Rights in Environmental Law.” Participants who are asked to participate in the roundtable are requested to review the tools and evaluate how they can help  improve the agency/non-government organization/group in their work.

Webinar on Child Rights and Related Laws

The webinar will discuss children’s rights, child labor, and the code of ethics when conducting interview with children. There will also be a discussion on children’s rights to a toxics-free environment. BAN Toxics aims to invite child rights-focused civil service organizations, academic institutions, and media practitioners to participate in the webinar.

The occasion aims to promote the protection of all children and their rights, provide practical support to parents and caregivers on how to care for children and themselves during the pandemic, empower children to protect themselves and report experience of abuse, and guide various stakeholders to efficiently deliver their expected roles and functions.
