On October 8, 2026, BAN Toxics conducted a seminar on Ecological Solid Waste Management at Teodora Alonso Elementary School (TAES) in Project 4, Quezon City, reminding teachers, students, and other members of the school community that proper waste disposal and environmental protection are shared responsibilities.
The seminar, which is part of the group’s Toxics-Free Waste-Free Schools Program (TFSP), was attended by about 400 Grade 4 to 6 students and covered proper waste segregation, reduction, reuse, recycling, and responsible disposal.
The TAES faculty expressed their appreciation, saying in a message, “It reminded us that keeping our school clean and managing our waste properly is not only the responsibility of the utility personnel or the school administration. It is a shared responsibility that begins with each one of us.”
TFSP is a continuing program of BAN Toxics that raises awareness about hazardous chemicals in schools, promotes the sound management of chemicals and waste in school activities, and develops learning modules and exercises to protect students and faculty members from the harmful effects of toxic substances and hazardous waste.
The event culminated in the turnover of waste bins from the Philippine Healthcare and Mercury Wastes Management Project (HCWM Project), an initiative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of the DENR, with BAN Toxics serving as an executing partner.
